At GAP Counseling & Therapeutic Services, which stands for God Altered Perspective, my mission is to help people find healing, clarity, and direction through a Christ-centered approach to therapy. I believe true transformation happens when faith and practical counseling work together to restore identity and purpose.
I’m passionate about seeing individuals, couples, and families experience the wholeness God designed for them—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Every session is an opportunity to shift perspective, rebuild hope, and bridge the gap between today’s struggles and tomorrow’s successes.
My vision is to see people thrive with a renewed outlook and a restored faith. Through counseling, I want to empower men, women, and ministry leaders to overcome shame, fear, and disconnection by rediscovering who they are in Christ. Healing isn’t just about getting past the pain; it’s about finding meaning and strength within it. My desire is that everyone who walks through my door leaves with greater confidence, deeper peace, and stronger relationships rooted in God’s truth.
I am Dr. Jacobie Robinson, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of GAP Counseling & Therapeutic Services. My calling is to help people experience restoration and transformation through both biblical truth and proven therapeutic methods.
I hold a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University, where my research focused on how men regain identity and sexual satisfaction after pornography addiction. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking with individuals, couples, and families as they find freedom, rebuild trust, and strengthen connection.
As a Black male Christian therapist, I bring a perspective that honors both faith and cultural identity. I am deeply passionate about helping men cultivate leadership in their homes and communities while supporting couples and families as they pursue God’s design for healthy relationships.
Specialties Include:
Couple's/marriage issues
Relationship Issues
Family Conflict
Men’s Issues and Identity Development
Pornography and Addiction Recovery
Depression, Anxiety, and Life Transitions
Clergy and Ministry Support
Speaking Engagements
My approach combines biblical truth with proven therapeutic methods that bring real results. Through Biblical Counseling, I help clients align their thoughts and actions with God’s Word, finding hope and purpose in His design. The Human Validation Process Model focuses on creating safety, connection, and self-worth, helping clients feel seen and valued. Solution-Focused Therapy keeps our work practical and goal-oriented, empowering you to take small, consistent steps toward lasting change. Together, these methods help you grow stronger in faith, healthier in relationships, and more confident in who God created you to be.
